UL is a global independent safety science company with more than a century of expertise innovating safety solutions from the public adoption of electricity to new breakthroughs in sustainability, renewable energy and nanotechnology. Dedicated to promoting safe living and working environments, UL helps safeguard people, products and places in important ways, facilitating trade and providing peace of mind.

UL has entered into an agreement with Safe Water Network.  UL’s Field Services Team in Greater Asia/Emerging Markets will provide Safe Water Network in India with Pro Bono iJal station audits.  Field Services will train Safe Water Network technicians on the audit requirements and then, on an on-going annual basis, Field Services will audit a sampling of the iJal stations for compliance to electrical and mechanical safety requirements, as well as validation of water quality and purification.

UL’s relationship with Safe Water Network started in 2012 through support in the development of water quality tools, training youth in safe water station operations and a tablet based water quality app.  The partnership between UL and Safe Water Network continues in 2016, with UL’s support for iJal plant assessment tools and the WaSH education program in 250 schools located in the Telangana region of India.

"Safe Water Network's commitment to consistent testing and having a certified lab analyze community water is significant. This is an important step in assuring that decentralized water systems deliver consistent safe water that meets national standards."
