The Volta River Authority (VRA) was established on April 26, 1961 under the Volta River Development Act, Act 46 of the Republic of Ghana, with the core business to generate and supply electrical energy for industrial, commercial and domestic use in Ghana. The Volta River Authority has a long history and tradition of engagement in corporate social investment. Their community investment initiatives help build capacity and stimulate economic development. The VRA aims to have a positive impact on the people, culture and communities in which they operate, and to contribute to the growth and development of the economy.
