What Does Sound Look Like? A benefit performance for SWN
What does sound look like? Two-time Grammy Award-winning drummer and composer Will Calhoun and digital artist Charles Kliment answered that question at White Space Studio in Chelsea, where live music, original art and digital visuals came together for one immersive night in support of Safe Water Network.
A select audience of over 60 guests gathered for the intimate benefit performance, generating meaningful support for Safe Water Network’s work to expand access to safe water.

The audience included His Excellency Samuel Yao Kumah, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations; Miesha Smith, Deputy Borough President of Manhattan; and Tumasie Blair, Senior Director at Global Citizen. Global Citizen co-founder Michael Sheldrick shared his support through a special video message.
Before the performance, VIP guests gathered for a conversation about Safe Water Network’s work in Ghana and India. Ambassador Kumah spoke about the importance of advancing access to safe water, while Deputy Borough President Smith reflected on the power of the arts and local communities to rally support for global causes. Safe Water Network CEO Christopher Williams and Sanjeev Chadha of the India Advisory Council also addressed guests.

Will Calhoun proved as eloquent with words as he is behind a drum kit, making a powerful case for why solving the global water crisis matters. He then took the audience on an extraordinary musical journey, accompanied by Charles Kliment’s digital imagery, which transformed the performance into a striking visual and sonic experience.
The evening was conceived and produced by Sharon Okubo of Okubo Solutions, with support from Safe Water Network’s team, participating artists, donors and guests.
