Safe Water Network India’s Vasundhara program shows how integrated, community-led restoration can deliver measurable environmental impact at scale. Working across urban and peri-urban ecosystems—including the Aravalli region in Gurugram, Haryana, and Lake Aivarakhandapura in Bengaluru, Karnataka—Vasundhara combines land restoration, waterbody rejuvenation, biodiversity enhancement, climate action, and livelihood creation, while strengthening local institutions for long-term stewardship.
To date, Vasundhara has restored nearly 900 million liters of water storage, improved conservation across 10,000+ hectares, engaged 14,000 farmers, and trained 15,000 community members, with a strong focus on women and youth. By pairing GIS-based planning with strong community ownership, Vasundhara offers a replicable blueprint for restoring ecosystems and improving livelihoods together.
For nearly 20 years, Safe Water Network has built, operated, and strengthened safe water enterprises that deliver reliable services at scale. We leverage this on-the-ground experience to provide technical assistance to governments and other implementers, share practical insights through forums and workshops, and offer training that builds local capacity. By combining operational know-how with policy engagement and knowledge-sharing, we help create solutions that are sustainable, scalable, and replicable across diverse contexts.
