Improving the Performance of Decentralized Water Purification Systems
By: Safe Water Network
Safe Water Network’s technical assistance and training program is helping to ensure the reliability and sustainability of Karnataka, India’s water purification plants, with an objective to serve more than 40 million people. Over eight years the government’s investments built a decentralized system of 18,000 water purification plants (WPP), one of the largest such water infrastructure projects in the world.
Upgrading Water Purification Plants
Safe Water Network’s Technical & Advisory Services have collaborated with those involved in the decentralized water sector to improve operations. The Rural Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation Department (RDWS&SD) was aware of Safe Water Network’s expertise, and the two organizations were able to work together in a multi-year program to upgrade the Karnataka WPP system by addressing varying service levels.
