Inspiring Accounts From Ijal Women Entrepreneurs
Her Story, an India-based media platform on women entrepreneurship, recounts inspiring stories of two iJal women entrepreneurs: Pranjali Raut, a Madheli village resident in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, and Nemuri Rani, from the Vinayak Nagar area in Hyderabad, Telangana. Pranjali, who is part of a Self Help Group (SHG) helping to operate an iJal Station (ATM) in Madheli village, says that water iJal stations have drastically improved the health conditions in her community, especially those of children. Net revenue generated at her Station is shared among women at the SHG who work in shifts, and Pranjali uses her share to pay her daughter’s school fees. Similar to Pranjali’s and Nemuri’s experiences, iJal Stations have generated livelihoods for 950 people, of which 28% are women, operating close to 90 ATMs.
