He was formerly the Director for Water at the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing where he served in that capacity for close to 10 years, retiring in 2011. At the Ministry he was responsible for coordinating policies and developmental activities of the three sector agencies of water resources, urban, and rural water supply. He was also responsible for coordinating donor support for the sector including that from NGOs. He had played key roles in the development of relevant policy documents for the sector which includes the National Water Policy (2007). Prior to this, he had worked in the Hydrology Division of the Architectural and Engineering Service Corporation (AESC, now AESL) and later as Director, Hydrological Services Department (HSD). Mr. Aboagye is currently practising as a Consultant in the WASH sector. He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.
