Modular Slow Sand Filtration

Modular Slow Sand Filtration (MSSF) technology offers the perks of covering operating costs while making water affordable to the community. This model is particularly effective in rural, low-income areas that are exposed to microbially contaminated surface water. Safe Water Network was able to bring MSSF water systems to Aveme and Akateng, resulting in favorable financial and operating results for the communities.  

A viable option for communities around Lake Volta 

Because of the vast surface water potential of Lake Volta, MSSF technology would be especially beneficial to communities surrounding the lake. In October 2014, SWN secured another MSSF system in Tonor along the Volta region. Prior knowledge learned from system implementation in Aveme and Akateng proved especially helpful in the success of the project.
